  • Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Lockport, New York (1882-1885)
  • Pastor of the Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland (1885-1899)
  • Popular among the students from Johns Hopkins University, as well as with people from all walks of life
  • Succeeded Henry van Dyke as pastor of the Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City in 1899
  • Books published posthumously: Letters from Egypt and Palestine (1902); Thoughts for Everyday Living: From the Spoken and Written Words of Maltbie Davenport Babcock (1901); The Success of Defeat (1905)
