SDAH 531: We’ll Build On the Rock

CHRISTIAN LIFE >> FAITH & TRUST

SDAH 531

We’ll build on the Rock, the living Rock,
On Jesus, the Rock of Ages;
So shall we abide the fearful shock,
When loud the tempest rages.

Text
Text

1
We’ll build on the Rock, the living Rock,
On Jesus, the Rock of Ages;
So shall we abide the fearful shock,
When loud the tempest rages.

Refrain
We’ll build on the Rock,
We’ll build on the Rock;
We’ll build on the Rock, on the solid Rock,
On Christ, the mighty Rock.

2
Some build on the sinking sands of life,
On visions of earthly treasure;
Some build on the waves of sin and strife,
Of fame, and worldly pleasure.

3
O build on the Rock, for ever sure,
The firm and the true foundation;
Its hope is the hope which shall endure,
The hope of our salvation.

Jesus is the Rock of Ages. He is the core foundation and cornerstone of our life. Building our faith on the solid Rock will enable us to have a strong foundation that will keep us to fight the battles of life. (Lesson 10, 2nd Quarter 2021 -Wednesday, A Better Covenant, 6/02/2021)

As we seek to make a living on earth, we must not forget that the purpose of living is to build a character for heaven. Then let us encourage each other to spend accordingly, for where our treasure is, there will our heart be also. (Lesson 8, 1st Quarter 2023, Managing for the Master – Tuesday, “The Earning Years” 2/21/23)

Life is too short to waste in gathering earthly treasures. Why invest the short time given us in what cannot last? Let us spend our time, spend our money in building for time and eternity, in the work Jesus gives us to do. (Lesson 10, 1st Quarter 2023 – Monday, “You Can’t Take It With You”, 3/6/23)

Jesus came as a man, with all our infirmities, yet in faith overcame every temptation by a perfect surrender to God’s will. This Rock of His life, His character, is the Foundation that we build on. It can never fail, and we can make His victory ours as we build on Him. (Lesson 4, 2nd Quarter 2023 -Thursday, Revelation’s Overcomers, 4/20/2023)
