SDAH 492: Like Jesus

CHRISTIAN LIFE >> MEDITATION AND PRAYER

SDAH 492

Teach, me, Father, what to say;
Teach me, Father, how to pray;
Teach me all along the way
How to be like Jesus.

Text
Text

1
Teach, me, Father, what to say;
Teach me, Father, how to pray;
Teach me all along the way
How to be like Jesus.

Refrain:
I would be like Jesus,
I would be like Jesus!
Help me, Lord, to daily grow
More and more like Jesus!

2
Teach me as the days go by,
Teach me not to reason why,
Teach me that to do and die,
Is to be like Jesus.

3
Teach me that the time is short,
Teach me how to live and work,
Teach me that to never shirk
Is to be like Jesus.

4
Teach me how we may be one,
Like the Father and the Son;
And when all is overcome,
I will be like Jesus.

To have the image of God is to have a meeting of minds between humans and the divine. This song is a prayer that we may have our minds and our will connected with the will of God and that we may be like Jesus. (Lesson 8, 4th Quarter 2020 – Sunday, “In the Image of God, 11/15/2020)

We are given daily lessons to be like Jesus. What kind of students are we in this school? If we are diligent and faithful to study the Pattern and apply His lessons, we will overcome every obstacle and grow until we perfectly reflect His image once more. (Lesson 4, 3rd Quarter 2022 -Sunday, In His Image, 7/17/2022)
