Education

  • Studied cello and graduated in music at the Royal Academy of Music in London
  • Studied theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, Westminster, Maryland

Highlights & Accomplishments

  • Served Presbyterian churches as a minister in Wilkes-Barre, Elmhurst (Pennsylvania), and Escondido (California)
  • Wrote 1500 (give or take) gospel songs, hymns, children’s songs, secular songs, and glee club songs
  • Collaborated with his brother — he wrote the text, while his brother Bentley, secretary and pianist of Billy Sunday, set it to music
  • Edited for the Rodeheaver Publishing Company
  • Awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Sacred Music by John Brown University, Arkansas
