Introductions for Sabbath School Song Service (based on specific lesson quarterlies):

Jesus, the One who died and was slain yet now lives again, is worthy of our praise. The lyrics says, “Thus may we each moment feel, love Him, serve Him, praise Him still. Till we all on Zion’s hill see the lamb.” (Lesson 10, 1st Quarter 2021 -Monday, The Suffering Servant Poem, 3/1/2021)

The first American appearance of this anonymous hymn was in Revival Hymns, 1846, published in Baltimore. Joshua Himes printed it in his Advent Harp, 1849. James White picked it up and included the hymn in his 1852 volume, Hymns for Second Advent Believers Who Observe the Sabbath of the Lord. The words consist of extracts from the book of Revelation. (The word millennium is not in the Bible, but the translation of the Latin words –1000 years—-occur several times in Revelation 20.)

The tune WORTHY has an ascending octave passage in the bass at the beginning scores 1 and 2, and two measures of unison in the refrain.
