Introductions for Sabbath School Song Service (based on specific lesson quarterlies):
These words are a direct quotation from Habakkuk 2:20, “The Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him” (see also SDAH 687).
The tune QUAM DILECTA (How Delightful) is named after the first two words of the Latin version of Psalm 84:1, and was composed by George Frederick Root (1820-1895; see SDAH 88). It is more in the form of a chant, but with the appropriate number of eighth notes written for the half notes and whole notes that were in the old style of chants. Root also composed SDAH 88, VARINA; SDAH 218, JEWELS; and SDAH 366, unnamed, for “O Where Are the Reapers?”
