To see Thee more clearly, Love Thee more dearly,
Follow Thee more nearly, Day by day.

Introductions for Sabbath School Song Service (based on specific lesson quarterlies):
This single stanza was printed on a card published by Skeffington & . Sons, Ltd., and was deposited in the British Museum on March 18, 1915. Credit there is given to St. Richard, bishop of Chichester (1197-1253). Born Richard DeWycke in Droitwich, England, he studied at Oxford University, then at Paris and Bologna. Known as one of the great crusade preachers in England, he was appointed chancellor of Oxford University and later chancellor of Canterbury. In spite of opposition of King Henry III, he was elected the bishop of Chichester. Recognized as a severe disciplinarian and defender of the standards of the church, he was canonized by Pope Urban IV in 1262. In Sussex, England, the festival of St. Richard was observed on April 3 until the days of the Reformation.
The lovely tune of this response, which can be appropriate before or after prayer, or as a benediction, was composed by Harold Friedell (1905-1958), a successful organist and composer who worked in several Episcopal churches in New York. He also composed the tune UNION SEMINARY, SDAH 259.
