Introductions for Sabbath School Song Service (based on specific lesson quarterlies):

These words by Frederick Arthur Jackson ask God to prepare the hearers for a Sabbath day rich in blessing. They echo the psalmist’s words, “O thou who hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh come” (Ps. 65:2).

Jackson was born in Longford, three miles north of Coventry, England,on January 28, 1867, and trained at Spurgeon’s College for the Baptist ministry. He held several pastorates, beginning at Campden in Gloucestershire and ending at Little Brington, west of Northampton. He wrote a lot for religious journals; published a volume of poems, Just Beyond; and wrote some other hymns. He died at Little Brington on December 4, 1942.

MORECAMBE was published in 1870 by Frederick Cook Atkinson (1841-1896; see SDAH 266, where it is used for the words “Spirit of God”).
