Introductions for Sabbath School Song Service (based on specific lesson quarterlies):
The text of this introit sentence is a direct quote, with the exception of the word “shall” for the “should” from Psalm 143:8. It was composed by Melvin West (1930; see Biographies) for unison voices and organ while he was chairman of the Music Department, Walla Walla College, College Place, Washington. He simplified it in 1984 for inclusion in SDAH. While the accompaniment is somewhat challenging, the melody is simple once it is learned.
