These words by an anonymous writer describe the advent of the King of glory when the righteous dead will be raised to eternal life.
The tune WAREHAM was composed in 1738 by William Knapp, and is named after the town where he was born in 1698. From 1729 to 1768, a period of 39 years, he was the parish clerk at Poole, Dorsetshire, where he died in 1768. It is thought that before this he was the organist at Wareham. Knapp published A Sett of New Psalms and Anthems in 1738, and in 1753 another book, New Church Melody. WAREHAM is used again for SDAH 226, “Lift Up Your Heads,” where it is in a higher key.

From heaven angelic voices sound:
Behold the Lord of glory crowned,
Arrayed in majesty divine,
And in His highest glories shine.

The grave yields up its precious trust,
Which long has slumbered in the dust,
Resplendent forms ascending, fair,
Now meet the Savior in the air.

Descending with His azure throne,
He claims the kingdom for His own;
The saints rejoice, they shout, they sing,
And hail Him their triumphant King.
