A Hymn About the Three Angels’ Messages

This week’s lesson quarterly touches the theme of the three angels messages.

When was the last time you sang precisely about this topic? One of the great things about the early advent hymns is that the pioneers sang hymns that were distinctly ‘Adventist’ in nature. The actual Bible studies they did were largely embodied and reflected in the hymns they were singing. As a result, the hymns became the ‘take-home’ theology, and was something that they can essentially reference to very easily.

One of those hymns is “The Three Angels Messages.” Sadly, this wonderful hymn is not included in the current SDA Hymnal. It appeared in the first hymnal James White compiled in 1856. As to the author of the hymn writer or composer we have no idea, so I took the liberty of using an appropriate tune that matches the context of the lyrics.

Here’s the hymn to be sung to the tune of CWM RHONDDA (Guide Me, Oh, Thou Great Jehovah)
